Hampton Lake Raises Money for Bluffton Self Help
November 10 2009

Bluffton, SC – A Halloween 5K and one-mile fun run at Hampton Lake, the premier private lake community in the Hilton Head Island/Bluffton area, raised $1,417 for Bluffton Self Help, the local organization that provides food and clothing to families in need.

Over 100 people participated in the 3.1 mile run and one-mile Fun Run/Walk, many of whom donned Halloween costumes for the occasion. The course circled throughout the lakeside community, beginning and ending at Hampton Lake’s award-winning Lakeside Amenity Village. This was the second annual 5k with plans already in place for next year.

“We were very pleased with the turnout and the amount of money raised for Bluffton Self Help,” said Gerrit Albert, president of Hampton Lake. “This race is a fun family event to kick off the holiday season while supporting a very worthy and needed organization that benefits such a wide spectrum of area residents.”

“We’re very appreciative of everything Hampton Lake did on behalf of Bluffton Self Help,” said Peter Bromley, Board Member for Bluffton-based organization. “We had three times the turnout from last year’s race and many people left food and cash donations. We received very positive feedback and are extremely appreciative.”
