January 22 2010

Bluffton, S.C.  – Roger Pinckney, a South Carolina native and celebrated, six-time author will present a lecture and book-signing at Hampton Lake Saturday, January 30th at 1pm. The lecture is free and open to the public and will be held in the Lakeview Room at Hampton Lake.

Pinckney will discuss his newest novel “Reefer Moon,” published last year. Following the hour-long lecture, he will sign books at the Tackle Box, Hampton Lake’s general store. Immediately following, guests are invited to stay and enjoy lunch at Backwater Bill’s, the community’s private lakefront restaurant (credit card only). For reservations call 843.836.7475.

“We’re thrilled to host such a gifted storyteller for our January lecture,” said Catherine Guscio, member services director of Hampton Lake.  “The Lowcountry settings in Roger’s novels make the stories come to life for those familiar with the area and his newest book is full of drama and intrigue.”

Pinckney’s other works include “Little Glory,” “The Right Side of the River,” and “Blue Roots” among others. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and earned an MFA through the Iowa Writers Workshop.  He is two-time winner of the South Carolina Fiction Project and Orion Writing Circle Award and is a regular contributor to Orion and Gray’s Sporting Journal in addition to his position as Senior Editor of Sporting Classics Magazine.  His 2003 novel, “Little Glory,” was recently purchased by a Hollywood independent film maker.
